A Load Balanced Hosting Solution for UNIX and Windows

Why SynergyHP . As web sites have become more sophisticated and demanding of server resources, the traditional shared hosting environment of a single server running a large number of virtual hosts has failed to provide the performance and reliability that our customers deserve.

In order to continue providing the highest level of performance, reliability and scalability, we decided that only a distributed model utilizing multiple load balanced web servers would meet our customer's needs today and into the future.

Located on a dedicated segment within a world-class data center, our SynergyHP high performance hosting platform combines the best in hardware and software to provide a complete advanced hosting solution for both Unix and Windows.

Enhanced Network Security
In addition to our data center firewall, the SynergyHP firewall provides enhanced security features to prevent unauthorized access to all our servers.

Multiple Servers for Increased Performance and Reliability.
Unlike standard systems where multiple tasks are run on a single server, SynergyHP uses separate and independent servers for each task:

·
Multiple redundant load balanced web servers. Load balancing efficiently distributes requests among multiple servers so that no single server is ever over worked. If one web server fails, the remaining servers automatically pick up the slack.
·
We limit the amount of web sites to 500 for every set of load balanced web servers (250 per server). We also have services available that limit the amount of web sites for a set of web servers from five to forty web sites. The ratio of web sites per server with our services is one of the lowest in the hosting industry.
·
Dedicated database servers for mySQL and Microsoft SQL Server 2000. Our database servers run queries on the databases only thus ensuring maximum reliability, security and performance.
·
NAS (Network Attached Storage) file servers. Your data is stored on a separate NAS device independent of the web servers. This results in better performance and more secure data. Your data is automatically backed up daily (incremental) and weekly (full backup).
·
DNS servers - Primary and Secondary domain name servers are separate and independent units that are located at two different data centers.
·
Mail Servers - SynergyHP email runs on a dedicated mail server featuring RAID5 capability and dual hot swappable power supplies for increased reliability and performance.

A Complete Email Solution
Combine dedicated mail server hardware with full featured and scalable mail server software and you get a highly reliable and scalable email solution. This allows us to offer unlimited email accounts and addresses with all plans without sacrificing performance and reliability. All plans include support for SMTP, POP3, IMAP4 and WebMail plus anti-spam and anti-virus protection.

Integrated control panel solution
Managing your web site and email accounts does not require advanced technical skills. Our online control panel is simple enough for a novice and powerful enough for experienced users.

· Single Login & Interface for both Unix and Windows.
· Account Management module included
· Support module includes Online Ticket System

Proactive Server Management
SynergyHP monitors connectivity and server services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Server load, disk space and memory levels are also continuously monitored. Our support staff are ready to deal with any issues. In the rare cases where services are adversely affected, customers will be advised as soon as possible - either directly or through the server status page in the control panel - as to the issues and what actions are being taken.

Data Security
Unlike at some other data centers which aggregate client routing through hubs, our internal network is on a dedicated ethernet segment. This protects the confidentiality of traffic within the data center itself.

Multiple Internet Gateways - Peer1 Group Telecom ATT WorldCom
Our dedicated segment is connected to two custom routers on a core Cisco network. These routers provide the gateways to the machines on our internal network, and employ BGP to advertise the IP space assigned. The system ensures traffic is routed via the most appropriate link. Routing over multiple links can be tailored to effectively facilitate traffic modeling based on the business factors of each bandwidth provider.

BGP4 Routing
The network runs the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP4) for best case routing. Our entirely switched, Cisco powered network employs HSRP (N+1 hot fail over) to ensure that data can be routed even in the event of a router fail over. The BGP4 protocol is a standard that allows for the evaluation of each packet of information sent out from the network. Because of our redundant network architecture, packets may be sent via alternative routes even if they are being delivered to the same end user! This also allows for packets to be redirected via another route if network congestion on the public Internet becomes overwhelming.

The routers are connected to each switch with gigabit links (once the GBICs arrive), and are connected together with a gigabit link. Peers are currently connected with copper and fibre 100Mbit Ethernet interfaces an OC-3 ATM interface. There are also six (6) staff switches, which are also connected to the core switches on the 100 Megabit ports.

Scalabilty
Network utilization is constantly being monitored. If it starts to approach 40% of capacity during heaviest peak times, more bandwidth is acquired from our network backbone providers.
